We are seeking an experienced Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) to join our dynamic team in the construction industry. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in safety and health management, with a particular focus on general contractor construction environments. Our SSHO will be responsible for overseeing all safety and health aspects on construction sites to ensure compliance with government regulations and company policies. Responsibilities:
As an SSHO, your main tasks will include:
1. Conducting regular site inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
2. Developing and implementing site-specific health and safety plans.
3. Providing safety and health training to construction staff and management.
4. Investigating accidents and incidents to identify their causes and find ways to prevent them in the future.
5. Maintaining accurate records of safety inspections, incidents, and corrective actions.
6. Liaising with government agencies, subcontractors, and clients on matters of site safety and health.
7. Ensuring all construction equipment and machinery are properly maintained and safe to use.
8. Leading safety meetings and promoting a culture of safety within the organization.
Qualifications:
To be considered for this role, you must possess the following qualifications:
1. A minimum of 5 years of experience as an SSHO in the construction industry.
2. A degree in Occupational Safety and Health, or a related field preferred.
3. Osha 30 Certification and first aid certification.
4. Extensive knowledge of construction safety and health regulations and best practices.
5. 40 Hour EM-385 1-1 (2014) training certificate.
6. Corp of Engineers Contractor Quality Control certified
7. 10 years minimum in commercial government contraction preferred.
8. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make quick decisions in emergency situations.
9. Ability to work in a physically demanding environment, with the capacity to climb ladders, lift heavy objects, and work at heights when required.
10. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word and Excel, for record-keeping and report writing.
