A Brief Overview
Stream Studios at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia is currently looking for a full-time medical illustrator. We are seeking a graduate of a master's program in Medical/Scientific/Biologic Illustration. The ideal candidate will have the following skills:
- Proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud applications, including Photoshop, Illustrator, and Premiere Pro.
- Proficiency with Z-Brush, and either Cinema 4D, Maya, Blender, or 3D Studio Max.
- Advanced skills in traditional media: a must is an ability to draw accurately and is considered foundational.
- Functional understanding of the elements and principles of design (such as composition and color theory).
- Functional understanding of visual communication and visual hierarchy.
- Well-developed communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.

What you will do
Consult with clients to identify the parameters of project (scope, timeline, budget), research content, render of 2D illustrations, 3D objects as well as animations. Manage project including collaborating Associate Illustrators.
Reply to and document new project/client inquiries (with input from Studio Creative Director or Senior Medical Illustrator)
Track and document estimates, invoices and production schedules
Meet with clients to develop surgical simulators in partnership with at least the Stat Lab and CHOP's CHAMP Lab.
Present at local, national, and international meetings.
If interested, develop their own projects under the guidance of the Surgical/Illustration Director or the Associates Creative Director.
Mentor studio interns.
Manage IP/copyright/image use for the studio and the partnership with the Office of Corporate and Collaborative Research Contracts.
Help manage studio social media presence.
Education Qualifications Bachelor's Degree Pre-Medical, Biological or Scientific Illustration Required
Master's Degree Medical/Scientific/Biologic Illustration Preferred
Experience Qualifications At least one (1) year Medical illustration Required
At least four (4) years Medical illustration Preferred
Skills and Abilities Proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud applications, including Photoshop, Illustrator, and Premiere Pro (Required proficiency)
