Summary At Early Discoveries Nursery and Preschool you are responsible for providing a nurturing, educational, and safe environment for children ages 6 weeks to 12 years old. This role involves planning and implementing developmentally appropriate activities, fostering positive relationships, and ensuring the well-being of each child in your care. As a daycare teacher, you work collaboratively with other staff as well as communicate effectively to parents. Early Discoveries Nursery and Preschool is a licensed daycare through DCF, therefore you will be responsible for following all DCF rules. You are also responsible for miscellaneous duties to maintain the cleanliness and positive environment of the daycare. This includes but is not limited to, daily and monthly cleaning tasks, organizing materials, and ensuring all areas are tidy and welcoming to parents and children. Additionally, to keep track of staff and children's information, you must be able to navigate technology we use such as the ELV and Dojo app.
Duties Childcare and Supervision: - Create a safe and secure environment for children, ensuring their physical and emotional well-being.
- Supervise and monitor children at all times, ensuring their safety during indoor and outdoor activities.
- Attend to children's basic needs, including feeding and diapering.
Curriculum Planning and Implementation: - Develop and implement age-appropriate lesson plans and activities to promote development.
- Foster a love for learning through engaging and interactive experiences.
- Provide opportunities for creative expression, sensory exploration, and problem solving.
Communication and Collaboration: - Maintain effective communication with parents/guardians and staff, providing regular updates on their child's progress and well-being.
- Collaborate with other daycare staff to ensure a supportive environment for children.
- Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities.
Requirements - Communication skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with children, parents, and colleagues.
- Patience and Empathy: Ability to demonstrate patience, empathy and a passion for working with young children.
- CPR Certification: Possession of First Aid and CPR certification for infant and toddlers (or willingness to obtain certificate within 30 days of starting.)
- Have a positive attitude and reliable work ethic.
- Provide a fun space for children to learn, grow, and explore.
Nice To Haves - Experience: Previous experience working with children in a daycare, preschool, or similar setting.
- Level 7 on the Wisconsin Registry or higher (this makes you teacher qualified) or be willing to complete 3 booklet classes to become teacher certified.
- Familiarity with child development principles and age-appropriate teaching methods.
